A box of chocolates contains, on average, 24 pieces. If the number of chocolates in each box never varies from the average by more than four, what is the least number of chocolates that will be contained in three boxes? 8 pieces 20 pieces 72 pieces 60 pieces
Well if we assume that each box does vary by the lowest 4 then: 24 - 4 = 20 per box the lowest each can have. And if we have 3 boxes then:\[3 \times 20 = ?\]
Does that make sense? Since each box can have \[\pm 4 \] then you want to see the lowest amount possible in 3 boxes so we assume it varies by that 4.
its 60
