Hello All! I have a 2014 Lenovo U530 ideapad that is running Windows 8.1, 64-bit, with an i7 intel core processor and an NVIDIA GEFORCE Video Chip. I have Google Chrome on it, but Since it did the conversion to open in Windows 8 format, it nolonger functions. I like it better the way it was before. Does anybody know how to change this back? FAN AND MEDAL

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

What do you mean by "the conversion to open in Windows 8 format"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I had Chrome to where it used to be the standard format (Opens immediately with a Google search bar in the center and a web address search bar in the upper section of the screen). Earlier today I clicked the drop down ribbon in the upper right corner and one of the options was relaunch in Windows 8 format. I clicked the button but it didn't do anything, so I resumed working. 10 minutes later (out of the blue) the Google Chrome I'm used to disappeared and a blue screen came up now Chrome wont launch at all.

Probably need to uninstall and reinstall. http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/01/10/qa-how-to-reinstall-the-google-chrome-browser/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0 It may take more if there is some corrupted setting that also needs to be pulled. Not all uninstalls remove the settings.

I got in touch with the Geek Squad at Best Buy, and they said my Windows 8.1 is corrupt and I have to do a refresh. Not sure on that one though because I will lose TONS of programs I had to pay for that I don't care to repay nor redownload.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If it is only one program that has failed, their evaluation is very extreme.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And if more than one program has failed, there is no way to know the cause without running diagnostics on the system. So they are basically skiping a ton of steps.

Thank you!

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

np. So yah, reinstall just chrome and see where it goes from there.

Will do!
