I need a little help with Algebra. Anybody willing to help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll type the question here: Part C: The average air pressure in another town is 29 inches, but the actual pressure is within 4 inches of the average. Write and solve an inequality to find the range of air pressure in this town.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would like you to help me work it out, not just tell me the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is only one city concerned. Right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know it says 'Part C', but it has no relation to the other two parts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK. What is the minimum value of the pressure ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25 inches?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct! What about maximum pressure ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is 33 inches.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, what confuses me about this question is that I have to write and solve an inequality to find out the range of air pressure. All I am use to doing is writing an inequality that defines the range right off the bat. But I have to right and solve one that still defines the range in the end.

Let the pressure be P. Then, P-29 should be less than 4 or -4. Right ?
