OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

How would I solve these type of problems?? I need help! Thanx In advance:D Let f(x) = 3x + 2 and g(x) =x - 3. Find f(x) - g(x). A. 4x - 1 B. 2x - 1 C. 2x + 5 D. 2x - 5

OpenStudy (yttrium):

very easy. according to the problem, f(x) = 3x+2 and g(x) = x - 3 you are asked to solve f(x) - g(x). Hence, just plug in the expressions of f(x) and g(x) then find its result.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ok, Thought so too. I'll plug it in and show you what I got. Do you mind telling me if I got it right or wrong?

OpenStudy (yttrium):

Sure :)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

3x+2-x-3. \(\huge{\leftarrow}\) is that right?

OpenStudy (yttrium):

better right it this way. (3x+2) - (x-3)

OpenStudy (yttrium):

*write

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ok, so then I would substitute. Right? I get: 3x+2-x+3. Correct?

OpenStudy (yttrium):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

My final answer is -2x+5. Am I right?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Wait, but I don't have that as my answer though.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Oh, wait. whoops. I see my mistake never mind. I got it:D Thank you soooooo much:D

OpenStudy (yttrium):

No problem :))

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Ok, I have another similar problem. Can you check if I got it right? I'm going to post a new one though.

OpenStudy (yttrium):

Let us see.
