Nnesha (nnesha):

a quick question Parallel Lines and Proportional Parts

Nnesha (nnesha):

OpenStudy (sheraz12345):

What is the question?

Nnesha (nnesha):

find x

Nnesha (nnesha):

i got x=0 and x=4

Nnesha (nnesha):

if x is negative then it's not a part of answer what about if its 0 ??

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

X cant be 0 :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x+x=6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk I haven't done this stuff in a while.

Nnesha (nnesha):

that's not like you did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nevermind that wouldn't work

Nnesha (nnesha):

it's ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm just confused on how 2x can be equal to x lol i'm probably just missing something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the question to find x?

Nnesha (nnesha):

x/2x = 6-x/ x then cross multiplication for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got x=4

Nnesha (nnesha):

yeah i also got that :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright cool guess that might be right then.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't see how that could be right though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because if x=4 how could 2x+x=6?

Nnesha (nnesha):

if i substitute 4 into the x in the proportional x/2x= 2-6/x so i get 1/2 on both side so its mean both side have same scale that's mean its similar

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok that makes sense to me then.
