OpenStudy (imstuck):

Grouped frequency tables are used when there are a LOT of values to put into your table and they can be grouped into "bunches" like if there are a lot of things in the store that sold for anywhere from $0-$5, there would be tallies for the number of items sold that fell into that dollar category. The next group would be $6-$11 and the number of items sold within that category would be noted as tallies. Obviously the school store has tons of things that vary greatly in their prices. As it should. Think about the cost of a pencil or a notebook for like $1 as opposed to the cost of a textbook at $100.

Then there's the inbetween stuff like a school t shirt or a pair of sweats or a Cliff Notes book for like $25.

yes so?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Well, that's why you use the grouped table. There's lot of different prices in the store and making a slot in a table for more than a just a few different prices is tedious. It's quicker and more efficient to use the grouping method.
