OpenStudy (abbyrose0105):

How do I solve √ 5x-6=√ 3x+4? I know to first square both sides and that leaves me with 5x-6=3x+4 and I have 4 possible answers which are: x=−1 x=−0.25 x=1.25 x=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add six to both sides, and subtract 3x from both sides first.

OpenStudy (abbyrose0105):

x=5

OpenStudy (abbyrose0105):

Thanks so much!

OpenStudy (aum):

Just to make sure put x = 5 in the original equation and see if LHS equals RHS.

OpenStudy (abbyrose0105):

Yes I know how to check it but I get confused with the order of operations. Thanks!
