First find the length of the missing side using pythatorean's Theorem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is pythatorean's theorem?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. So I got 850?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@IMStuck ??

OpenStudy (imstuck):

oh sorry...

OpenStudy (imstuck):

#9 first, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (imstuck):

like this for the missing side:|dw:1406490224707:dw|

OpenStudy (bradely):

Calculate the adjacent side XY = \[\sqrt{25^{2}-15^{2}}\] =20 secx = hypotenuse/adjacent =25/20 =5/4 tanx = Opp/adjacent = 15/20 =3/4 cosz = adjacent/hypotenuse =15/25 =3/5 Option 2 is correct Source:www.mathskey.com

OpenStudy (imstuck):

|dw:1406490346836:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25^2=625

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@bradely can you try #10?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Since secant is the "flip" of cosine, find the cosine of the angle first. The cosZ is 15/25, but flip it to get the secant. secZ = 25/15.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh. I think I see what is happening. I'm still not fully sure. I just had a lot of trouble with that. Do you think you could help me with a different type of question? @IMStuck

OpenStudy (imstuck):

of course. What do you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15. In ΔFGH, FH = 7 ft, FG = 12 ft, and m∠F = 70°. Find m∠G. Round your answer to the nearest tenth. 17.3° 11.6° 78° 34.4° 16. In triangle ΔXYZ, XY = 14, YZ = 22, and XZ = 26. What is the measure of angle Z to the nearest degree? 57° 66° 147° 33° I got D for 16

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Do you have the images of these? Are they right triangles? If so, which one is the hypotenuse?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are no images. I don't know if they're right or not. Another person asked the same thing.. I don't even know how I could even solve these.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

|dw:1406490755089:dw|

OpenStudy (imstuck):

|dw:1406490810450:dw|

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Well, if it's a right triangle, then the measure of G is 180-90-70. That comes to 20, but that seems to easy. Are you doing the Law of Sines yet? The answer to that will tell me everything!

OpenStudy (imstuck):

*too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I think we did go over the law of sines like once.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Oh!...then it's probably NOT a right triangle, and this, in fact, is what you have:

OpenStudy (imstuck):

|dw:1406490999126:dw|

OpenStudy (imstuck):

The Law of Sines says this:|dw:1406491054576:dw|
