OpenStudy (oleg3321):

3|x - 3| + 2 = 14

OpenStudy (oleg3321):

No solutions x = -1, x = 8.3 x = 0, x = 7 x = -1, x = 7

OpenStudy (oleg3321):

@experimentX

OpenStudy (experimentx):

|x-3| = ?? square both sides and get your answer ... also check your values if it satisfies equation or not.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

first -2 and divide by 3 next write the 2 equations and solve remember the absolute value means only use the positive value

OpenStudy (tester97):

\[3\left| x-3 \right|+2=14\] Subtract 2 from both sides \[3\left|x-3\right|=12\] Divide both sides by 3 \[\left| x-3 \right|=12\] Then solve like a normal equation \[x-3=12~~and~-x+3=-12\] Can you do it from here?

OpenStudy (oleg3321):

is it -1 and 7

OpenStudy (tester97):

Oh whoops i made a mistake i forgot to divide the 12 by 3 that should be like this \[\left| x-3 \right|=4\] then solve like a normal equation \[x-3=4 ~~and ~-x+3=-4\] So yes you would have x=7
