Graph the polar equation. r = 2 + 2sin θ

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (phi):

do you know what sin 0 is ?

OpenStudy (phi):

one way to figure out the picture is test a few angles. when the angle is 0, find r angle 0 means pointing to the right along the x-axis go the distance "r" in that direction to find that point on the curve. cross off any plots that don't go through that point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it b?

OpenStudy (phi):

when theta=0 what is r? r= 2 + 2*sin(0) what is that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2?

OpenStudy (phi):

yes. 2 that means you go along the horizontal axis to the right 2 steps (starting at 0 you end up at +2) the graph has to go through that point |dw:1406508330530:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its either A or D

OpenStudy (phi):

now find r when theta= 90º (meaning it will point straight up along the y-axis)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its A

OpenStudy (phi):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh thank you!!
