Let xy=z, where x,y,z are nonzero numbers. If x is multiplied by 3 and z is divided by 3, this is equal to multiplying by a. 1/9 b.1/3 c.1 d.3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xy=z so if you multiply x by 3 then 3xy and divide z by 3 will be that xy=z again so C

OpenStudy (imstuck):

You multiply one of the sides by 3/1 and you multiply the other one by 1/3. That is the same as multiplying by 1, because 3/3 = 1.

I .. Dont suppose I get it. ^^'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok xy=z right? if you multiply x by 3 then you get 3xy, recall that xy=z so 3xy=3z, right? now it says divide z by 3 and z was =xy, if you divide it by 3, you have now xy/3; and multiply 3xy*xy/3 = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. I get it. Thank you very much. ^^
