eric do u agree ?

OpenStudy (eric_d):

Yes If Derek has 30 friends he will need to have 30 pieces of apple in order to give one to each of them. Each apple is cut into 8 pieces so one apple would be 8 pieces, 2 apples would be 2 x 8 = 16 pieces, 3 apples would be 3 x 8 = 24 pieces and 4 apples would be 4 x 8 = 32 pieces. It should be clear that the answer is between 3 and 4 apples. After the third apple Derek would still need 3 6 more apple slices for each friend to have gotten one. [24 slices + x slices = 30 slices - so x would equal 6 slices] Since each apple has 8 total slices the fraction of the fourth apple needed is six eigths (6/8). The fraction 6/8 can be reduce to 3/4 (by dividing the numerator and denominator by 2).

OpenStudy (eric_d):

So, it's 3 and 3/4 apples
