A rectangle has an area of x^2-y^2 square units. What is the perimeter of the rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area = length * width so here length*width=x^2-y^2, the question wants you to use this expression, what can you say about x^2-y^'?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That if you factor it you can get the side lenghts... I am not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2-y^2 can be written as: (x-y)(x+y), you should know this. So length is x+y and width is x-y. Now the perimeter is 2(length+width) so 2(x+y+x-y) = 4x
