The first row shows negative 4 under column x and negative 3 under y; the second row shows negative 2 and negative 2; the third row shows zero and negative 1; the fourth row shows 2 and zero; the fifth row shows 4 under column x and 1 under column y.

3\4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 4

OpenStudy (mrnood):

look at the figures The x values go up in steps of 2 the y values go up in steps of 1 This means it is a straight line. What is the gradient of this line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u want the awnser choises

OpenStudy (mrnood):

No - I want you to answer the question I posted...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

iam not sure sorry

OpenStudy (mrnood):

Do you know how to work out the gradient? You have 5 points given to you |dw:1406741425607:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry but what is gradiant

OpenStudy (mrnood):

Ok - I'm sorry - but you have asked a question about the equation of a straight line. Maybe you use the term slope - it is the same as gradient If you do not know what slope or gradient is then you cannot answer this question. You will need to go back toyour text book or tutor to find out more about the equation of a line.

OpenStudy (mrnood):

Do you know what the slope (= gradient) of a line is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the part when the lines meet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got to go sorry to waste your time bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will figure it out on my own

OpenStudy (mrnood):

No - even the word tells you - if you talk about going up a slope or ' a steep slope' that is obvious what it means. Please study this or similar http://www.mathsisfun.com/equation_of_line.html come back when you know about slope and the equation y=mx+b Good luck
