So whats your answer for #1 ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x=8
x=-5
y=4
y=-7
?? @ganeshie8
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
yes! can you also tell which equation represents which line ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x=8 is horizontal
y=4 is horizontal
OpenStudy (ikram002p):
hehe to mix things up with this question @ganeshie8 xD

OpenStudy (ikram002p):
wait i ment sorry to mix hehe
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
nope, remember this :
for a `horizontal` line, `y coordinate` is fixed, so the equation will be of form :
\[\large y = k\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh haha.
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
try again and see if you can figure out corectly now :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x=8 vertical
x=-5
y=4 horizontal
y=-7
what does "k" mean when you said y=k?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
Yes !
`k` is just any number
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh yay!
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
next, look at second question
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
how many blue horizontal lines do you see ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
can you write equations to each of them ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i can try. ok one sec
OpenStudy (anonymous):
actually i dont know.
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
look at the top blue line
it is going through y coordinate 225, right ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
so its equation will be ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
y=225 vertical
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@ganeshie8
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
y=225 horizontal,
ok ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
shoot haha

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
what about the bottom horizontal line ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
0?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
kindof, but 0 is not an equation, 0 is just a number
tell me the equation :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what do i use instead of 0?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@ganeshie8

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
equation of horizontal line passing through y coordinate of 0 :
\[\large y= 0\]
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
i meant that ^^
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok so y=0
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
yes!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yay

see if you can figure ou the equations for blue vertical lines
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x=225
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
yes, you need to tell which line that equation represents also
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay its vertical?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
how does that line look ?
vertical/horizontal ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
horizontal
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
which line are you talking about ?
and do u know the meaning of the words horizontal/vertical ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
vertical is like height and horizontal is like flat
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
yes, thats right !
can you show me what line ur equation `x=225` represents in your diagram ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
horizontal right

show me in the diagam
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what do you mean show you in the diagram?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
show me which line your equation `x=225` represents in above diagram ^^
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the bottom one

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
thats wrong,
horizontal line has a fixed `y` coordinate, so the equation will be of form :
\[\large y = k\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
shoot.
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
but ur equation is `x=225`, so it cannot represent a horizontal line
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
bottom horizontal line : `y = 0`
top horizontal line : `y = 225`
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ohhh okay i see

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
those are the correct equations for horizontal lines, okay ?
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
Notice that they are of form :
\[\large y = k\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay im starting to get it a little more
ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
so are we done with horizontal lines ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes

can we move to vertical lines ?
how manyv ertical lines do u see, and what are they ?
