Can anyone help in this chemistry question https://mega.co.nz/#!Fx4XQILT!b-CAE5mTJzQ3kepRAB2qsmTFh5Nwmb3hUMpAh1YNvAk here's the link link to the question paper and the question i am stuck on is question 1cii
can't see it without downloading it.
1 (a) Explain what is meant by the term ionisation energy. (b) The first seven ionisation energies of an element, A, in kJ mol–1, are 1012 1903 2912 4957 6274 21 269 25 398. (i) State the group of the Periodic Table to which A is most likely to belong. Explain your answer. (ii) Complete the electronic confi guration of the element in Period 2 that is in the same group as A. 1s2 (c) Another element, Z, in the same period of the Periodic Table as A, reacts with chlorine to form a compound with empirical formula ZCl 2. The percentage composition by mass of ZCl 2 is Z, 31.13; Cl , 68.87. (i) Define the term relative atomic mass. (ii) Calculate the relative atomic mass, Ar, of Z. Give your answer to three signifi cant fi gures
1cii)
You have the hypothetical compound, \(\sf ZCl_2\), it mass percent position is: \(\sf Mass~\%~composition_Z = \dfrac{M_Z}{M_Z+2M_{Cl}}*100\%=31.13~\%\) M=molar mass Solve for the molar mass of Z, \(\sf M_Z\).
Mz*100/100=31.13/100(MZ+71) MZ=0.3113MZ+22.1023 0.6887MZ=22.1023 MZ=32.0 Sulphur
but sulphur is not a period 2 element.
I dont think A is in period 2
yes you are right i did not read the question properly.
thank you :D
