May you help me with this problem? @jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Each figure looks like a kite, right?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Does it look to you like a reflection or just a translation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry for the delay; a reflection. I got B. 6 units

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Notice how for each figure, the shape remains the same and it is not flipped over. So we aren't doing a reflection.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry for the delay :/ ~Oh, thanks! How do we determine if it's 6 units or 11 units!? (From the first point on the kite I got 11, but from the space in between both kites I got 6 units!) @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

You pick any point on the first figure and move to the corresponding point on the second figure. So say from the very top of the first figure to the very top of the second figure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got translation of 6 units.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that's incorrect

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The very top point on figure K is (4,8) it shifts down _______ units to get to the corresponding point (4,-3) on figure K'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11 , darn! Thanks. So the final answer would be 11, correct?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct
