Solve the inequality. a + 8 – 2(a – 12) > 0 a. a < 32 b. a > –16 c. a < –16 d. a > 32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry didnt see the notification a+8-2a+24>0 how do i isolate a's?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you didnt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no but how can i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i honestly dont know i jst start this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To isolate variables you need to get variables on one side of the sign numbers on the other after i distribute combine like terms get a's with a's and numbers (without a variable) with numbers without a variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 8+24?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So A)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes now did you guess or do you know how to do it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i Guessed i wont lie

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good guess lol ill walk you through on how to do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahahah Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a+8-2(a-12)>0 first you need to distribute the -2 (multiply everything in the parenthesis by -2) so a+8-2a+24>0 (-12 becomes a positive 24 because you multiplied by -2 and two negatives make a positive) now you need to combine like terms variables with variables numbers with numbers 1-2(these are the a's) -1a(or just -a) -a+32>0 now we need to isolate the variable to do this we need to do the reciprocal or opposite of each operation subtract 32 by 0 -a>-32 almost done our variable can not be negative so divide -1 into -32 and remember 2 negatives make a positive a>32 BUT always when dividing by a negative our signs flip so the solution is a<32

Word Rt you better Than My Teacher Lol These fools Pist me off jst give me work and dont show me how to do it lol
