OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Can someone fill in the blank of two spaces that I am confused on?

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

The words in red are the ones I already answered, but there are still two blank spaces that I am confused on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first blank is not pancreas dear..it is salivary glands

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Oh, then what does the pancreas do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

even pancreatic juice secreted by pancrease has some digestive enzymes but the context referred in your question is about digestion in mouth...look at the question once.pancreatic secretions do not occur in mouth..it secretes near duodenum

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Oh, ok. What about the others?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

salivary glands in mouth secretes salivary amylase which converts carbohydrates to sugars i think this will help you. http://health.howstuffworks.com/human-body/systems/digestive/digestive-system1.htm

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any more questions....

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Yes, I'll put them up in a moment...

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Are all the answers correct now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no dear..chyme is a partly digested food that enters duodenum from stomach.but your question is about digestion in mouth.the food that is partly digested in mouth is called "bolus" that enters esophagus. read the question once now..

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

I know, I usually do, it's just my computer is not working good lately.

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

I see the answer now, @BIOCRYSTAL . That answer was so easy. I wonder why I am so dum for the last couple of days...

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

haa ahaaa thats good and nice krishna pic on profile :) this @BIOCRYSTAL is my friend you can ask her bio and chem related questions to me :) all time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@quickstudent got the answer? may i know what is it/

OpenStudy (abhisar):

\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @BIOCRYSTAL salivary glands in mouth secretes salivary amylase which converts carbohydrates to sugars i think this will help you. http://health.howstuffworks.com/human-body/systems/digestive/digestive-system1.htm \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) Mainly starch

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Here is my answer now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right..go ahead

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok then bye..

OpenStudy (abhisar):

As a side note: Salivary amylase catalyzes the hydrolysis of starch into simple sugar sugar derivatives. This si the reason why we say that digestion starts right from the mouth.
