OpenStudy (quickstudent):

If we place an enzyme in a strongly acidic pH, which of these is most likely to happen? a. the reaction will happen much faster at the extreme acidity b. the reaction will not happen c. the reaction will occur as if the enzyme were at neutral pH

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Is it b?

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

@Gabebro13 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am between A or B.... but not sure... you might want to try googling it...

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

hmmm,,, ok.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So just go with which ever you think I guess...

OpenStudy (nikkirb):

The best answer is (b). The strong pH will denature the protein. All those excess Hs that cause the low pH will disrupt any hydrogen bonds (or other weak cross-linkages) that hold the enzyme in the 3-dimensional shape that is necessary for it to function.
