when you say sin A...it means you'll consider the side opposite to angle A... while the hypotenuse is the side always the longest for a right triangle....

hypotenuse is the side always opposite to the right angle (90°) of a right triangle (always drawn a little square on the said right angle)... as shown in your drawing...

just apply the definition based on your figure...\[\sin A=\frac{opposite~side~of~\angle A}{hypotenuse~side}=\frac{5}{13}\]just perform the arithmetic operation... that is the answer.
