graph this parametric equation x = 2t y = t + 5, -2 ≤ t ≤ 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

every time i try graphing it my calculator says you cannot graph an ineqaulity?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

You don't need a graphing calculator. Eliminate the parameter. It should be smooth sailing from there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you do that :o

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

x = 2t --> t = x/2 Plug in x/2 for t in the second part of the parametric equation.

OH

THANKS MAN

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Oh no, I forgot to talk about the parameters. The given interval is -2 ≤ t ≤ 3 But, since we're using 'x' as the independent variable, we need to find the interval of x. x = 2t -> When t = -2, x = -4 When t = 3, x = 6 So, the interval you should be graphing on is: -4 ≤ x ≤ 6
