Find the slope and y-intercept of the line formed by the equation 2y=4x-6

OpenStudy (bakonloverk):

Well first you have to put the equation into y= format

OpenStudy (anonymous):

using the formula of slope as the pattern, y=mx+b : m=slope and b= the y-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then what do u do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You just need to divide each side by 2. This would leave the y isolated and what ever is your last number in the equation is the y-intercept:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your answer would be -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 for y intercept and 2 for slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to just simplify the eqaution to its lowest form.

I don't understand so can u explain how u got the 2 for the slope?
