If f(x) = x^2 + 1 and g(x) = 3x + 1, find 2·f(4).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(4)=4^2+1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

double that to find \(2f(4)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so plug 4 into the f(x) question so (4)^2 + 1 and then multiply teh answer by 2 and there is your answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea no problem! let me know if you still dont understand i'd be happy to help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 34 would be the answer or 18?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

34 because, after you plug in four 4 squared is 16 right? and then + 1 = 17 so what you did right there is the first part by plugging in 4 into the equation now what you have to do is multiply 17 by 2 to get 34. im not sure how you got 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I got 34 but when I asked someone else before you started typing they said 18.. lol.. but thankyou soooo much!!!
