what is wrong with this question? Find the tangent of x
Well if I were to think a bit more critically I would say that x is not the same as x degrees. If assuming that this (^^^) is what the question wants, then: tan (x deg) = 8/6 => x deg = arctan (8/6) => x deg = 53.13 deg => x = 53.13 Now, since x is not in degrees, then by convention it should be in radians, thus: tan x = -0.28 -------------------------------X------------------------------ Now, thinking that this question is a very straightforward one, then we can safely assume that there is a typo and in place of x there should be x deg, then: tan (x deg) = 8/6 ---------------X------------------------------- This is all I can think of.
look carefully this is the kind of thoughtless math teacher nonsense that drives me nuts some on line scam class question written by a moron (or more likely an underpaid grad student living on ramen noodles and discount beer)
:D since when did the 6 cm side become longer than 8 cm side ? :P
right exactly then you ask a student to draw a reasonable triangle and it never occurs to them that the numbers actually mean something
:D The question of the year :P :P :P I would never know why such teacher than ask the students to be precise in their calculations and diagrams :D
i am making a "bad math" folder when it gets to 100 i will publish
Best of luck :D It is not a tough task ;) :P
Shopuldn't 8 be in place of 6
