What is the sine value of (5pi / 3)? @kirbykirby

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

sin (5π / 3) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

sin(5π/3)=sin(5 ×180 /3)=sin(5 ×60)= sin(300) = sin(360-60)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

sin(a-b)=sin(a)cos(b)-sin(b)cos(a)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

sin x = 5π / 3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? im so confused

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

you are not even telling me what the question is... sorry but I will have to abandon you (at least for now)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1407686895673:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these are my options: a. negative square root 3 / 2 b. square root 3 / 2 c. - 1 / 2 d. 1 / 2 @SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

If you know the unit circle.. you can use symmetry arguments to find the 5pi/3 value... If you know that \(\large \sin\left( \frac{\pi}{3}\right)=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}\) .. then sketching the circle shows: |dw:1407687270146:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so by using the unit circle it is A

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks again!
