OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

Simply put, a ribosome assembles the proteins in the cell.

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

As ribosome is made of two components it attaches at the time of protein synthesis and detach after the process... It is responsible for protein synthesis..:)

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Ribosome synthesizes proteins ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are basically the site for protein synthesis by linking together amino acids. they can be found on Endoplasmic reticulum and free lying in the cytoplasm. The are made up of RNA and protein

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Well, Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum has attached ribosomes while Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum doesn't have :)

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

If you want to sound smart..... You can say....... Ribosomes or rRNA (made and assembled in the nucleolus) make proteins from strands called mRNA. They are also catalyst which LOWERS the energy of activation to drive the reaction forward/ speed up the reaction.

thanks guys!
