For the following statement, indicate whether it applies to the geographic concept of place or region. 1. (1 pt) The main crop you see for miles around here is corn and almost everybody's first language is English. A. place B. region
region, is something that is large, generally. Like you say country region... When you go to the club though, you would call it a place, not a region, right? 'miles around' indicates that we are talking about a larger place. You choose ?
This question is good in history, but better for English, http://openstudy.com/study#/groups/English
Okay so I had to look up the definitions of geography to answer this question. Place Place (geography), an area with definite or indefinite boundaries or a portion of space which has a name in an area Region In geography, regions are areas broadly divided by physical characteristics (physical geography), human-impact characteristics (human geography), and the interaction of humanity and the environment (environmental geography). Geographic regions and sub regions are mostly described by their imprecisely defined, and sometimes transitory boundaries, except in human geography, where jurisdiction areas such as national borders are clearly defined in law.
Based on the terms of the geographic dictionary, I would say B. Region
The examples of a place were like @SolomonZelman explained more narrowed towards a particular location, where a region is conceptually more broadly defined.
