How does a cell use glucose to store energy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's this if not sorry Glucose is broken down by the body to produce pyruvate by a process of glycolysis and pyruvate later broken down in the krebs cycle in the presence of oxygen to produce oxaloacetate with the release of high amounts of energy. And this energy is used by the body cells. Now, to the question Glucose is stored by the body as glycogen by glycogenesis wen one takes in food with high carbohydrates. The enzyme glucagon is responsible for enhancing the conversion. When u need to use energy in a starved state, where u haven't taken food for hours, glycogen gets broken down by glycogenolysis to produce glucose (glucose-6-phosphate) which then passes through glycolysis, to provide energy.
