OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the significance of anaphase 1

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

Anaphase begins abruptly with the regulated triggering of the metaphase-to-anaphase transition. At this point the Anaphase becomes activated. This terminate activity by cleaving and inactivating the M-phase cyclin.

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

"Anaphase I begins when the two chromosomes of each bivalent (tetrad) separate and start moving toward opposite poles of the cell as a result of the action of the spindle. Notice that in anaphase I the sister chromatids remain attached at their centromeres and move together toward the poles."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

adding to @praetorian.10 s reply ...any abnormalities during anaphase 1 can result in chromosomal aberrations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and chromosomal aberrations leads to many syndromes ..the one like Down's syndrome(trisomy21)

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

^^^ its called nondisjunction

OpenStudy (ookawaiioo):

Just know Anaphase: Equal separation of the chromosome towards two opposite ends of the cell. So the cell can make two cells with equal amounts of chromosome. Oh....Anaphase 1? You talking about meiosis? I like meiosis. In Anaphase 1, the homologuous pair chromosome some separate. (|-----XX-----|) to ( X-----|-----X)
