Frank needs to fill juice-cups for his little sister's birthday party. There are 35 juice-cups and each juice-cup holds 12 fluid ounces. The juice comes in 1-gallon bottles. How many 1-gallon bottles of juice will Frank need to purchase? (1 quart = 32 fluid ounces, 1 gallon = 4 quarts) I am lost can someone explain?

35 cups times twelve fluid ounces each is 420 fluid ounces total. There are 32 ounces in a quart. 420/32=13.125. 13.125 quarts of juice are needed. Since there are 4 quarts in a gallon, divide 13.125 by 4, and you get about 3.3. Since you can't buy 3/10 of a bottle of juice, Frank will need to buy four gallons of juice to have enough. Hope I helped :)
