A person who lacks good judgment can't be a good pilot The quote isn't saying that you can only succeed as a pilot depending only on judgement, the quote is saying without good judgment you can't succeed as a pilot. "A man must start" means that good judgement is only the beginning and pilot can't succeed without it.
