What is the difference between a sequence and a series?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sequence is order of things.... series is summation over a sequence........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you put that into different words for me? i still don't really understand what a series is...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A sequence is an ordered list of numbers or terms. It can contain elements, numbers and terms and can be a limited set or an infinite set...like(1,2,3,4....) A series is the sum of a sequence.....!! For instance, 2 + 4 + 6 + 8 + ... or 1 + 3 + 5 + 7 + ...... hope it's clear now )
