OpenStudy (sachin00007):

What field in engineering is mostly demanded. What type of engineering to do ?:)

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Good question, the mean EE starting salary in 1983 is basically the same today. This is what caused the housing market to collapse in 2007-8 in which property values double during this time period but not salary's. About 85 % of U.S. populace are employed today where 100 and some years ago that proportion was self employed. My advice is to learn what you can try to say away from company's requiring your personal work only patentable by them. The ultimate objective is to be self-employed requiring knowledge in science, engineering, business and a keen sense of what's needed out there and how to fill it.

OpenStudy (agentjamesbond007):

It is true that some Principal Investigators will hire qualified people to build and continue developing their patentable project until it is ready for production. This is very common in Graduate School. The Engineering fields most in demand tend to be Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Mechanical has a potential, but will be harder to find demand due to companies heavily relying on electronic technology. Back then, radios used to have knobs and needed mechanical engineering to determine the precision of the gears. Now, we use microprocessors to perform the logical calculations. Civil tends not to be the most in demand in the United States due to many buildings already been built and open spaces decreasing. If you do intend to pursue Engineering, I suggest you fulfill your educational requirements, take the EIT (Engineer in Training) Exam, get the certificate, continue your studies, and when ready, take the PE (Professional Engineer) Exam. Once earning your PE certification, you will be able to work as a PE and sign your own contracts with others.
