Deja is training for a race on Saturday. On Sunday, she runs $\frac{1}{6}$ of a mile. On Monday she runs $\frac{1}{5}$ of a mile. On Tuesday she runs $\frac{1}{4}$ of a mile. On Wednesday she runs $\frac{1}{3}$ of a mile. On Thursday she runs $\frac{1}{2}$ of a mile. Finally, on Friday, the day before the race, she runs a whole mile. If the length of the race is the same as the total distance Deja ran in preparation, how many miles is the race?

first you have to make all of the fraction the have the same base i picked 60 as my base making 1/6 into 10/60 1/5 into 12/60 1/4 into 15/60 1/3 into 20/60 1/2 into 30/60 and 1 into 60/60 when added together you end up with 147/60 or the total distance but you must simplify it 2 and 27/60 or 2.45 miles
