I need help.. How does the insulin and glucagon secreted by the pancreas function in glucose metabolism?

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

@abhisar check this once

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

@aliboo997 the person i mentioned will surely help you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks @deepika.comet :)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

@aliboo997 Insulin is responsible for glycogenesis and glucagon is responsible for gluconeogenesis.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

do u know the meaning of both the terms ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd be lying if I said I did..can you explain please.. ha.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

and you don't need to lie ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright, haha :)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Glycogenesis is the process of formation of glycogen from glucose and its antagonistic is gluconeogenesis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, makes sense.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

When blood glucose level rises then insulin catalyses the conversion of blood glucose into glycogen [the reaction occurs in liver] and when the blood glucose level drops then glucagon catalyses the conversion of stored glycogen into glucose. in this way a homeostasis is maintained.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Got it ? or u still need to lie ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha, i got it. :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

don't lie..be honest..

OpenStudy (abhisar):

are u sure u got it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm being honest..yes. you've been most helpful.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

alright ! that's good :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup. c:

OpenStudy (abhisar):

btw i was just kidding...don mind ;)
