What does it mean when there is no coefficient of the variable?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres always a coefficient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That means that there is no number before a variable. In other words, "3x" has a coefficient, whereas "x" has no coefficient. @KlOwNlOvE is right though. While the equation might not show a coefficient, there is always one. "x", for example, has an invisible one in front of it. Follow?
