Of the 1260 visitors to a convention, 70 win door prizes. Estimate the odds in favor of winning a door prize at the convention.

Are the odds chaotic?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does that mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does every 21 person through the door win a door prize or is it random. Hence the "Chaotic Theory"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A synonym would be random

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The odds are the ratio of the probability of an event occurring to that of its not occurring. \[\large P(win)=\frac{70}{1260}\] \[\large P(don't\ win)=\frac{1190}{1260}\] Therefore the odds in favor of winning a door prize at the convention are: \[\large 70:1190=1:17\]
