Find the value of x. http://static.k12.com/eli/bb/811/7537/0/2_36614_44211/7537/a5f1016a929c7017dcd86e01b372da4fa290c833/media/b3f3fa3539bebd07a78e97492b6f488875cf8bfc/mediaasset_649845_1.gif @Hero

OpenStudy (crashonce):

exterior angle equals sum of interior opposites

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Have a clue on how to set it up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really thats my issue

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@YanaSidlinskiy

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Just Like CrashOnce said, "exterior angle equals sum of interior opposites". That means: \(\huge{2x-11+2x+7=100}\) Can you solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you combine like terms. the you are left with 4x-4=100 4x=104 x = 26

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right?

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Is that one of your answers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i saw where i messed up. instead of it being seven alone it would be 27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the complete formula would be 2x-11+2x+27=100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so again you combine like terms and this time it would be. 4x+16= 100 4x= 84 x=21 and that is one of my answers

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

No, you're good.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Oh, great. Some explpaining. \(\huge{\uparrow}\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

The sum of angles in a triangle equals 180º The sum of 2 supplementary angles is (also) 180º. So, the angle next to 100º, is 180-100. Which is same as 80º \(\normalsize\color{black}{ \color{blue}{2x-11}+\color{red}{2x+27}+\color{green}{80} =180 }\) I colored the angles.

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Oh yea...Kind of forgot that..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 21 isn't the answer?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So, after adding like terms \(\normalsize\color{black}{ \normalsize\color{ black }{\normalsize {\bbox[5pt, cyan ,border:2px solid white ]{ 2x }}} \normalsize\color{ black }{\normalsize {\bbox[5pt, yellow ,border:2px solid white ]{ -11 }}}+ \normalsize\color{ black }{\normalsize {\bbox[5pt, cyan ,border:2px solid white ]{ 2x }}}+\normalsize\color{ black }{\normalsize {\bbox[5pt, yellow ,border:2px solid white ]{ 27 }}}+\normalsize\color{ black }{\normalsize {\bbox[5pt, yellow ,border:2px solid white ]{80 }}} =180 }\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So, you will get 4x+96=180

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

divide by 4 on both sides, and subtract from both sides. In any order you like

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh it would still be 21..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because 180-96= 84 then divide by 4 and you get 21

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):
