OpenStudy (joftheworld):

@m&msdoodle any idea ? LOL

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

\[\Large \left( \frac{1}{2}\right)^3 =\frac{1^3}{2^3}=?\]

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

its either 8 or 0.125?

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

1/8 = ? :)

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

but if its a decimal i have to round to the nearest thousandth

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

to the nearest thousandth means rounding off at the 3rd decimal place

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

i suck at rounding lol

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

say you have: 0.45678 ... rounded to the nearest thousandth: look at the 3rd digit which is "6" If the number after 6 is: -- 5 or greater, round it to 7 -- 4 or less, round it to 6

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

so 0.125 ->> 0.130 ?

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

um the third decimal is 5, so the number after 5 is just 0 (if there is nothing after, it's a 0)

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

so there is technically no rounding to do.. it's just 0.125 :)

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

so .120?

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

no, like say you had 0.1251... you look at the 3rd digit "5" and there is a 1 after it, so you round it to 0.1250 (or 0.125) If you had 0.1257, the digit after 5 is 7, so you round it to 0.126 Now you have 0.125 (or 0.1250), so the digit after 5 is 0, so you round it to 0.125

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

so since the question asks me to round to the nearest thousandth do i do that with 0.125 to get the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

After the decimal, it goes tens, hundreds, thousandths (and so on) so in your answer, the 1 is tens, 2 is hundredths, 5 is thousandths.

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

so whats the correct answer ?

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

The answer is in my explanation :o

OpenStudy (joftheworld):

so 0.1250 ???

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

you don't need the 0 at the end
