A Labrador leaps over a hurdle. The function f(t) represents the height of the Labrador above the ground, in inches, at t seconds: f(t) = -16t2 + 20t A foxhound jumps over the same hurdle. The table shows the height of the foxhound above the ground g(t), in inches, at t seconds: Time (t) g(t) 0 0 0.4 7.44 0.6 9.24 0.75 9.76 1.0 9 1.50 0 Part A: Compare and interpret the maximum of f(t) and g(t)? (4 points) Part B: Which function has a greater x-intercept? What do the x-intercepts of the graphs of f(t) and g(t) represent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part C: Determine the y-intercepts of both functions, and explain what this means in the context of the problem

help please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey, you on flvs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is basic algebra one, you should have notes and an entire lesson on this. just plug in the numbers. :)

@JoannaBlackwelder

OpenStudy (triciaal):

I always try to sketch the functions. easier to "see"

OpenStudy (triciaal):

sketch the function f(x) find when f(x) = 0 same as y = 0 the x intercepts you have the information for g(x) plot the points to sketch this function as well the maximum will occur at t/2 sec the maximum height is when slope =0 for g(t) the time is given 0.75 and h = 9.76 to compare the maximum height find F(0.75) and compare with 9.76

OpenStudy (triciaal):

I might be doing all of part A and part B together but basically I would be looking at f(t) and g(t) comparing the maximum height difference in inches and also looking at when this is achieved; the time in secs

OpenStudy (triciaal):

it would be ideal to have the graphs on the same grid.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

the x-intercept is when y = 0 at the start and again when finished jumping 9back on the ground) these are the values of t when f(t) =0 and g(t) = 0

OpenStudy (triciaal):

typo 9back should be (back

OpenStudy (triciaal):

part C the y-intercept is when x = 0 for this question t = 0 compare f(0) and g(0)

OpenStudy (triciaal):

hope you have everything start with the graph then we can review any questions right now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so these were the anwsers @triciaal
