Solve negative five-ninths equals negative two v minus one-third for v.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Probably the first best step would be to isolate the term with the v in it. Do that by moving the -1/3. How would you do that?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

And just so I understand this is the equation, right?\[-\frac{ 5 }{ 9 }=-2v-\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (imstuck):

So how do you move the -1/3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by -5/9 - -1/3 right ???

OpenStudy (imstuck):

I'm not sure exactly what that means, sorry. You need to add the -1/3 to both sides to get rid of it on the right. Yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so -5/9 + - 1/3 = 6/12 -1/3 + -1/3 = 2/6 right ????

OpenStudy (imstuck):

no, here, watch, ok? I'm going to draw it using the drawing tool. One step at a time, ok?
