what is the slope that passes thourgh (2,12) and(4,20)

OpenStudy (praxer):

slope = (Y'-Y")/(X'-X") http://www.mathwarehouse.com/algebra/linear_equation/images/slope-of-a-line2.gif

The answer would be 8/2. The formula to find slope is y2-y1 / x2-x1. The coordinate points are (2,12) (4,20). Your 'x' is always the first number in the coordiante. (2,12) is the first coordinate point. (4,20) is the second coordinate point. Making 2 your 'x1' and 12 your 'y1'. That would mean 4 is your 'x2' and 20 is 'y2' because coordinate points are set up (x,y) this makes sense. Then you just plug into your formula for slope. Y2-y1 / x2-x1.
