how to simplify?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what like terms are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 2y and -3y are like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do 2y - 3y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and -3x^2 + 6x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the ones with the exponents just add the exponents together as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9x to the second power -5y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or -3x to th second power -5y? Ive narrowed it down to one of those

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2-3= -1. So there we would get -y -3+6= 3. and with those you add the exponents ( 2+ 2 = 4) so we would get 3x to the fourth power

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so your answer would be -y+3x^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a multipule choice question the options are -3x to the second power-5y, 9x to the second power -5y, -3x to the second power - y, or 3x to the second power -y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Choose the last answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was wrong on the exponents sorry. don't add them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much could you hlp me with a few more questions? sorry im bad at math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure ill try

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you its this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know what those lines mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i learned it i just dont remember :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They pretty much mean how far the number is from zero on a number line.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be -12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe so. not entirely sure on that one. Im in algebra 2 so I'm used to linear equations with those in them….

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now its asking the solution to this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?
