It's a translation, basically it means you moved it up/down right/left. The orientation and size wasn't altered. Point \(\ A(-1, 4) \) Point \(\ A' (-4, 2)\) From -1 to -4 you decreased 3 intervals on the x-axis. Therefore (x - 3, y + (?)) As for the "y" from from 4 to 2 you decreased 2 intervals. So it's (y - 2) Your translation rule is: \(\ \sf (x - 3, y - 2) \)

OpenStudy (the_fizicx99):

The translation rule will apply to all points from the Pre-Image to the Image.
