OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the product moment coefficient, r, on what range of values is it considered strong ? why is 0.7 close to 1 but still not considered strong ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@perl

OpenStudy (ybarrap):

It will depend on sample size. The value you consider strong will be relative to the two variables you are considering and the context in which you are using them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is on the topic of correlation and regression

OpenStudy (perl):

do you have a book online

OpenStudy (perl):

according to this website , strong correlation is greater than r= 0.8

OpenStudy (perl):

you would have to define 'strong correlation' mathematically (otherwise it is a bit vague)

OpenStudy (perl):

your book might give a definition, strong correlation is r > some decimal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks perl :)

OpenStudy (perl):

|r| > some decimal
