Sherry missed the lesson on normal distribution and needs to do her homework. Explain to Sherry how to use the mean and standard deviation of a normal distribution to determine the top 7% of the population.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

explain the use of calculator too ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@HatcrewS what do you mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zepdrix @tejasvir

OpenStudy (anonymous):

N~(mean, standard deviation^2) recognise that top 7% is action the 93th to 100th percentile, i.e. P(x>93)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how exactly do i find the mean and standard deviation? @hatcrewS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mean is np where n= sample size and p = probability realise that i typed standard deviation^2, which is the square of standard deviation, you can get square of standard deviation by npq where q = (1-p) note that the square of standard deviation is same as the variance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm honestly so confused, i'm sorry i'm really trying to understand this @HatcrewS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would you be able to guide me a bit more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm.. what is it that you dont understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how to do the problem lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to use the calculator to find the probability of normal distribution ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@HatcrewS no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@HatcrewS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Dscdago please help it's literally my second to last question and i'm done with my course

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you tell me what do you know abt normal distribution so its easier for me to guide ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

basicially for normal distribution, N~(np, npq)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i really know nothing i'm sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

npq gives you the variance, which is the same as the square of standard deviation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is making no sense for me, would you be able to do it and then explain how you did it? @HatcrewS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can do it but u cant see.. cuz most of the calculations is done using calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how would i be able to answer this?? you're supposed to be able to type it as sentences for the answer @HatcrewS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@HatcrewS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zepdrix

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please it's now the last question i have and i just need it answered in words @HatcrewS
