A circle diameter =24 feet. What is the area of B to the nearest tenth use 3.14 to get the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you have a picture? What is B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B IS THE MIDDLE OF THE CIRCLE going through under b is the d=24ft

B

Ok. So it is circle B. You are looking for the area of the circle. Do you know the formula for the area of a circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No math is not my thing at all. Numbers confuse me and I get them mixed up in my head itsmy weakest point. Just trying to get this class done fast. And I am done with school

Ok. So the area of the circle is \[A=\pi r ^{2}\] First you need the radius, which is r. The radius is the distance from the center to any point on the circle. Since you have the diameter, 24, you need the radius. You divide the diameter in half to get the radius. So, r=12. This is your formula so far. \[A=\pi (12)^{2}\] Since you are using 3.14 for pi, you plug it into the formula.\[A=3.14(12)^{2}\]. Now you solve for A. A=3.14(144) A= 452.16.
