What is standard equation of hyperbola??

OpenStudy (eric_d):

I've not learn that part yet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, you are doing ellipse??

OpenStudy (eric_d):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The standard equation of Ellipse is given by: \[\frac{(x-h)^2}{a^2} + \frac{(y-k)^2}{b^2} = 1\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here Centre is : \((h,k)\) \(a\) = Distance from centre in x direction \(b\) = Distance from centre in y direction.. Whichever distance is greater, major axis is that only..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Note that in RHS you should have only 1.. But in your question, 16 is there, so divide both the sides by 16.. And tell me what did you get??
