Let f(x) = -4x + 7 and g(x) = 10x - 6. Find f(g(x)).

OpenStudy (cj49):

substitute x=10x-6 in -4x + 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Huh?

OpenStudy (cj49):

-4(10x-6)+7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh I thought so.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-40x+31

OpenStudy (cj49):

yups thats the ans

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(g(x))=-40x+31 this is how i went about it... g(x)=10x-6 for f(g(x))....take g(x) as the x and substitute it into g(x) to give f(g(x))=-4(10x-6)+7 =-40x+31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's much easier than it looks. Thanks so much, you two!

OpenStudy (cj49):

np..c:
